Currently, human medications are often prescribed to pets as pet specific medications are not always available. This situation is not ideal. Most medications are administered to pets by the oral route (tablets, capsules). Due to the often disagreeable taste of the drugs, many pets are extremely reluctant to consume their medicine, thus forcing owners to take time-consuming and unorthodox actions to give their pets their needed medications. This activity can be incredibly difficult and frustrating for the owners as constant supervision is necessary to ensure that the pets receive their medication as prescribed, limiting what drugs can be administered by the oral route.

This painstaking process of administering medications is unnecessary as Lifescient’s pet specific medications are embedded within an implant dosage form that is maximally comfortable for the pet. As the implant dosage form is placed subcutaneously, it allows for the slow release of the medication over a specific period of time in a controlled manner.
